Traffic on eastbound Route 64 was closed because of a rollover crash at Powis Road in West Chicago on Wednesday.

WEST CHICAGO – An SUV was involved in a rollover wreck after being hit by a semitrailer shortly before noon Wednesday, sending the SUV driver to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, officials said.

The crash occurred just west of Powis Road on Route 64 in West Chicago, where the road is under construction.

West Chicago Deputy Fire Chief Dennis Keef said though emergency crews were prepared to do an extrication, it was not necessary.

"There was one person still inside. They pushed the button, the door opened and he came out," Keef said. "As long as the roof is intact, the door will open."

The driver, a man who was not identified, was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.

West Chicago police officials did not respond to questions about the crash.
