ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Symphony Association recognized this year's Silver Measure Award recipients at a recent ceremony.

Both Shirley Myers and Bruce Forbush won the award for their volunteer work within the symphony and their community.

Myers began serving the symphony in 1972 as a member of the auxiliary, overseeing fundraisers, receptions and serving meals to orchestra members. She also served as auxiliary president. Beyond the symphony she has volunteered with many other community groups including the American Legion Auxiliary and the Children's Home and Aid Society, where she served as president.

Forbush serves the symphony as assistant to the stage manager, a position he obtained after 30 years setting-up and taking down stages for the group. He also volunteers at Grace Lutheran Church in Villa Park in musical groups and works the 3 to 8a.m. shift at the PADS site.
