Bolingbrook library has summer slate of activities planned
Summer is now in full swing in Bolingbrook, and as I write this column the weather is sunny and gorgeous.
I hope it stays this way for all of us by the time we read this column in the Reporter. But if it gets too hot outside, we would love to have you come by the library and enjoy some great programs and some great air conditioning, too.
Here are some of the exciting programs we will be offering in July.
Have you had the great American novel tickling at the back of your head? “So You Have a Great Story” on Tuesday will offer you tips on writing your story and how to get it published. I have had an idea for a setting for a story in an exotic locale for years but I have not gotten past the setting yet. One of these days I will!
Speaking of exotic locales, Chef Michal Niksic will be preparing dishes from around the world on July 17 during his “Global Sampler” program. Most importantly, food samples will be provided.
Once you have gotten your fill at Chef Niksic’s program, take a walk upstairs to our Studio 300’s “Summer Home” and learn all about the iMacs and the software that we have to offer you. We will be having “Discover Studio 300 Macs and Software” on July 15, 24 and 29.
One of the trips I keep telling myself I am going to take is a cross-country journey following Old Route 66, and I think my wife is amenable to the idea. We have a program on July 31 entitled “Historic Route 66: A Journey Through History”, which will be great if you are thinking about such a trip, would like to learn more or maybe relive some memories.
You can sign up for all of these programs by visiting our website at fountaindale.org or giving us a call at 630-759-2102.
Our Summer Reading Program is now in full swing, and I encourage you to sign up if you have not already done so. If you already have, happy reading!
I would also like to ask you to save the date for our Ice Cream Social – our big end of Summer Reading Event which will be on Monday, Aug. 5. Stay tuned for more details!
