Lombard man accused of threatening to commit 'Columbine'-type shooting deemed unfit to stand trial

LOMBARD – A Lombard man who was charged after allegedly posting messages on Facebook where he threatened to perform a "Columbine"-type shooting at the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton was deemed unfit to stand trial on Tuesday, according to media reports.

McDade, 31, of Lombard, was arrested in April by Denver police after he allegedly posted the threatening messages on Facebook. He became angered after receiving notice that he needed to appear at the courthouse for a drug test, as a condition of his bail.

He was charged with threatening a public official and disorderly conduct.

Judge Robert Kleeman ruled McDade unfit to stand trial, saying he has had difficulty cooperating with his attorneys, according to media reports. He will be transferred to a locked, mental institution for treatment.

He can be tried at a later date if he is determined mentally competent.
