ELMHURST – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the area.

Northern Illinois thunderstorms have already produced between two and three inches of rain. Excessive runoff could cause flash flooding in Elmhurst as well as the rest of Northeastern DuPage County, Northeastern Kane County and Northern Cook County.

The flash flood warning is in effect until 11:30 a.m., but a flash flood watch will continue into this evening. More storms producing one to two inches of rainfall per hour are possible later today as the storms gradually move south.
