Downers Grove Police chief named president of Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police

DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove Police Chief Robert Porter took office as president of the 1,200-member Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police this month, according to the village.

Porter has been an officer for Downers Grove for more than 25 years, including more than 10 as its police chief.

He has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's degree in public safety administration from Lewis University.

He is also a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command, and the FBI National Academy. He is a member of the DuPage County Police Chiefs Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
