College of DuPage remembers former trustee

GLEN ELLYN – The College of DuPage (COD) will fly flags at half-staff this week to remember former Trustee Beverly Fawell, who died June 22 at age 82.

Fawell served on the COD Board of Trustees from 2001 until 2007. During that time, she was part of various efforts at the college, including a calendar conversion from quarters to semesters, advancement of a Facilities Master Plan, progress in the Academic Quality Improvement Program and the hiring of Sunil Chand, the college’s fourth president, according to a college news release.

Fawell also served as an Illinois State Senator for more than 20 years.

College leaders honored Fawell shortly after her retirement by renaming 22nd Street, officially changing the Glen Ellyn campus address to 425 Fawell Blvd.

A visitation is scheduled for 2 until 8 p.m. June 26 at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton. Funeral Services will be held at11 a.m. June 27 at St. Mark Episcopal Church, 393 Main St., Glen Ellyn. For more information, visit www.williams-kampp.com or call 630-668-0016.
