Celebrate the 4th of July in Lemont

There are many ways to celebrate America’s independence this year in Lemont, including artistic activities, athletic pursuits and, of course, fireworks.

Freedom Run

• 7 to 9 a.m. Thursday

• Centennial Park, 16028 127th St., Lemont

• The event features a 5K and a 10K race. Awards will be given to the top two runners in each age category.

• Register at Active.com.

Red, White and Blue

• 10 a.m. Wednesday

• Lemont Public Library, 50 E. Wend St.

• Two local artists will celebrate the Fourth of July and artwork of Jackson Pollock during an outdoor art program for ages 5 to 11.

Independence Day
Extravaganza

• 4 to 9:45 p.m. Wednesday

• Centennial Park, 16028 127th St., Lemont

• Highlights include a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at The CORE, a bean bag tournament and music by Centerfold. It finishes with fireworks at dusk.
