Wheaton North 2013 spring sports highlight reel
9: Consecutive victories for the Falcons after opening the 2013 season with a 6-5 loss to Nashville-Franklin
Highlight: Despite winning conference championships in each of the past two years, Wheaton North did not advance past the regional in either season. This spring, the Falcons got over that hurdle, capturing a Class 4A regional title with a 5-0 victory over South Elgin behind the complete-game pitching of Lake Bachar and a three-run homer from Tom Colletti. The squad went on to win one game in the sectional and finished with a 27-9 record.
5.95: Points separating the state champion Wheaton co-op team from runner-up Conant at the state meet
Highlight: The Wheaton co-op boys gymnastics team, which draws from Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South, didn't just defend its state title, it dominated all challengers. Wheaton posted a score of 161.650 at the state meet, running away to the third championship in program history. David MacDonald finished first in the all-around competition (56.30) in his first season of high school action. He added individual event titles in the floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars. Ethan Sansone was seventh in the all-around, second on floor, fifth on pommel horse and vault and seventh on horizontal bars. Danny Heller posted top-10s on pommel horse and horizontal bars.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
15: Points scored by Wheaton North at the Class 3A state track meet, putting the Falcons in a tie for 16th place
Highlight: While Wheaton North might not have reached their lofty aspirations, due in large part to an injury to Zach Gordon, the Falcons still had a successful state meet. Leading the charge was the 4x400-meter relay team of Nehemiah Heckler, Steven Connor, Ben Riley and Micaiah Steele, which captured runner-up honors with a time of 3:20.47. The 4x100 grouping of Marcus Charles, Matt Biegalski, Patrick Sharp and Ben Moore added a fourth-place showing.
24: Goals allowed by the Wheaton North soccer team in 21 games this spring
Highlight: While the Falcons ultimately fell short in their regional final matchup with Hinsdale Central, the squad arguably played its best game of the season. Facing a Red Devils squad that went on to finish as runner-up in Class 3A, Wheaton North actually led, 1-0, in the second half on a goal by Lexi Pelafas before Hinsdale Central netted a pair of goals in the final five minutes. The Falcons finished with nine victories on the spring, eight of which came via shutouts.
