ELMHURST – More than 50 ComEd customers in Elmhurst are still without power Tuesday evening according to ComEd's website after major thunderstorms hit the Chicagoland area Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

The number has been decreasing throughout the day, but some of those outages are not expected to be restored until Wednesday night. The electric company warns more storms may delay the repair process. Approximately 500 utility and contractor crews area working to restore power to 42,000 total customers, the majority of which are in the south suburbs said ComEd.

ComEd urges customers to contact the utility immediately if they are experiencing a power outage. Customers can also sign up for text alerts, and text OUT to 26633 (COMED) to report their outage and receive restoration information.
