LOMBARD – Despite being rocked by major thunderstorms Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, the communities of Lombard and Villa Park have remained relatively unscathed, and as of Tuesday afternoon, most people still have their lights on, according to information on ComEd's website.
About 60 outages were reported in Lombard and another 135 in Villa Park. The major storm that swept through the area Monday afternoon caused more than 300,000 outages across the region, and as of Tuesday morning, about 66,000 people remained without power, according to ComEd. Most of these outages were concentrated in Chicago's south suburbs.
During the event of damage-causing storms, residents are reminded not to touch or approach fallen power wires, but to call 911.
More storms, some severe, are forecasted for later Tuesday afternoon and throughout the rest of the week.
