Wheaton pastor honored as top volunteer

WHEATON – Pastor Don Kretzschmar of Wheaton was honored as the Marklund 2012 Volunteer of they year at its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, according to a news release.

Kretzshma was given the award in recognition of his commitment to those with special needs, according to the release. He has volunteered with Marklund, a nonprofit special needs organization, for 23 years for a total of 1,392 hours and serves as the executive director of Voice of Care, which provides ministry to persons with developmental challenges.

Also recognized at the luncheon were Dolores Bettencourt, of Schaumburg; Evan Clark, of Geneva; Jismon Kuruppath, of Bloomingdale; Phyllis Perry, of St. Charles; and Zurich American Insurance Company, of Schaumburg, as the 2012 Volunteer Group of the Year.
