DOWNERS GROVE – The Downers Grove Zoning Board of Appeals will hear two requests at its regular meeting Wednesday.
The first is a petition by the U-Haul self-storage facility at 2701 Wisconsin Ave. It is seeking a variance that would allow it to add four parking spaces to the front of the business, 17.5 feet from the property line. The current code requires a 35-foot setback in that location.
The business already offers 65 parking spaces, only 15 of which are required. Village staff recommended for the board not to recommend the variance, because they think there is already sufficient parking at the business, and there is no hardship that would require the business to place the parking spots within the required setback.
Also there is space to add two spots in the front without infringing the setback.
The second item on the agenda concerns a resident's request for a side yard setback variance to build a garage at 3945 Washington St. The board will decide whether to continue the item until the July 24 meeting because staff recommends a topographic survey before the board rules on the request.
The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
