Carol Stream Park District hosts summer activities
CAROL STREAM – There’s summer fun to be had at the Carol Stream Park District at the district’s upcoming day trips, camps and other events, according to a Carol Stream Park District news release.
Kids ages 12 to 18 can spend a day at Great America, Brookfield Zoo, Odessey Fun World Paintball or get the IMAX experience at Navy Pier at one of several day trips throughout the summer. Participants must register one week in advance. Transportation will be provided from the Simkus Recreation Center.
The district also offers Adventure Camp, an all-day camp for kids that includes daily themes, special events, field trips and three days of swimming each week at Coral Cove Water Park. Camp hours span from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours also are available before and after camp. Flex passes and hot lunch also can be included as part of the camp experience.
National Teddy Bear Picnic Day will be celebrated by the district this summer at Hampe Park. Kids ages 1 to 8 can enjoy storytelling, a bounce house, bubble making and cookie decorating. Lunch for kids and one accompanying adult is included with district fees. The event will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. Register by Sunday.
All ages can explore the night sky from 8:30 to 10 p.m. July 12 at Red Hawk Park. Refreshments will be served. Children younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The fee is $5 for residents, $8 for nonresidents, $10 for resident families and $15 for nonresident families.
Coral Cove Water Park is open for the season 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. Passholders can enter the park 30 minutes before those buying general admission. Activities include bingo Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., “What’s in your beachbag?” from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, and Bring Your Floaties Day from 6 to 8 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays.
