Bolingbrook High School's 2013 spring sports highlight reel
Softball playoff win, all-state track finishes top the list for Raiders
The spring sports season saw a slew of memorable moments for Bolingbrook High School athletes. Here are some of the biggest highlights for the Raiders.
4.7: Percentage of senior Dani Knaak's at-bats that ended with a strikeout. She fanned just five times in 105 at-bats and reached base 47 percent of the time.
Highlight: There is no question as to what the highlight of the season was for the Raiders – topping Plainfield East 3-1 in a regional semifinal playoff game. It was Bolingbrook's first playoff win in Jean Ryan-Moak's tenure as head coach, and she believed it was the first postseason win for the program, which dates back nearly 40 years to the original Bolingbrook High School. Sophomore pitcher Megan Lotarski was solid in the circle, and senior outfielders Dani Knaak and Nikki Wood provided leadership for a group of players that was largely new to the varsity level.
122: Runs the Raiders scored this season. They scored 10 or more five times with a season-high of 16.
Highlight: The Raiders never quite found their mojo this spring, but with seniors Nick Sramek, Kyle Nadres, Scott Foltz, Mario Samuel, Brad Elmore, Steve Waldrop and Chandler Piekarski leading the way, they started the season 7-6 after a 13-3 win over Joliet Central April 20. Later in the season, Bolingbrook had a three-game winning streak that included a two-game sweep of SouthWest Suburban Blue conference-rival Homewood-Flossmoor.
