WESTMONT – More than 30 third, fourth and fifth graders spent a day learning about safety with the Westmont fire and police Departments.

The Kids Safety Camp took place June 19 at Westmont Headquarters Station, 6015 S. Cass Ave.

The camp teaches kids about stranger danger, bike safety, first aid, internet safety and dialing 911, according to Fire Chief David Weiss.

"It's a different style summer camp for kids to attend," Weiss said. "We're looking forward to this program going on for many years in the future."

He said local businesses, groups and organizations throughout the community support these camps.

"We had a great turnout and the parents are very supportive," Weiss said. "We couldn't have these programs without the sponsors and donors from the community."
