Riverside fire personnel put out house blaze on Northgate Road
RIVERSIDE – Firefighters from the Riverside Fire Department extinguished a blaze Wednesday afternoon at a home at 73 Northgate Road.
Personnel from the Fire Department received the call at 4:48 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release issued by the village. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 4:54 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the home's basement. The three occupants had already exited the house.
Fire officials said that fire had traveled inside the walls up to the first floor of the home. Firefighters opened the walls in the basement and first floor to extinguish the fire. In addition, a hole was cut in the roof and several windows were broken to remove heavy smoke from the structure.
