ADDISON – Community members are working to raise money and awareness to support the family and friends of Dylan Domek, a 19-year old from Addison who was struck by a car in Chicago hours before his high school graduation.

During the early-morning hours of June 9, Domek was crossing Lake Shore Drive near Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood with a group of friends when he stumbled, fell and was struck by a car.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries to his head and legs.

To help support Domek's family, several community events have been planned in his honor. The Addison Rec Club will host an All-Star Night at 5 p.m. June 23 at Centennial Park in Addison where they will honor Domek. Also on June 23, there will be a pancake breakfast fundraiser running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Alta Villa Banquets, 430 N. Addison Road. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Domek family.

Support services are also available for Addison Trail High School students, staff members and others who need assistance. Anyone in need of services can call 630-628-3300.
