Timothy Christian and IC Catholic fought above their weight in a few sports this spring. Here are some of those moments from the spring sports season.
IC CATHOLIC GIRLS SOCCER
1: Total goals conceded by IC Catholic in its four playoff victories.
Highlight: Led by Mizzou-recruit K.C. Morris and prolific scorer Angela Toritto, the Knights won a sectional for just the second time in program history. The team had an up-and-down regular season against bigger schools, but things clicked in the playoffs under first-year coach Tod Privett. IC's run came to an end in a 2-1 supersectional loss to Johnsburg.

Highlight: Senior Tim Hipskind capped off an athletic career that included a standout football career with a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Class 1A state meet in Charleston. Hipskind also ran with Arturo Chavez, Brian Anzures and Silvestre Saucedo to finish 15th in the 4x400 relay.
TIMOTHY CHRISTIAN BASEBALL
4: Hits Mike Wieringa allowed in Timothy's 5-1 regional semifinal upset win against Westmont.
Highlight: Timothy Christian struggled to consistently find wins throughout the regular season, but proved that anything can happen in a single-elimination baseball tournament. The Trojans knocked off Interstate Eight champion and top regional seed Westmont, 5-1, in a Class 2A regional semifinal thanks to a complete-game effort from pitcher Mike Wieringa. Emerson Bandemer had three hits to pace Timothy offensively. The Trojans lost in the next game to eventual state champion Lisle.
TIMOTHY CHRISTIAN BOYS TRACK

Highlight: Jake Hooker was Timothy's only qualifier for the Class 1A boys track and field state meet, but he made it count. Hooker was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles after running a season-best time and cutting more than a second off his qualifying time.
