ELMHURST – Emerson Elementary School recently found out the school raised more money than 99 percent of schools in the nation for the American Heart Association.

During a spring fundraiser called Jump Rope for Heart, Emerson raised $18,577 in donations. According to a letter from the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate Youth Market Director, Mary Lou Torrison, said that is enough to train 371 people in CPR and potentially save that many lives.

Emerson ranked 108 out of 30,000 schools that participated throughout the country, placing the Elmhurst school in the top 1 percent.
