WHEATON – Children's health facilities in DuPage County were named among the country's best, according to a new report by the U.S. News and World Report.
Experts say that the report, part of the U.S. News Best Children's Hospitals 2013-2014, is the first national assessment of how health and environmental factors in counties affect the health of children, according to the article.
DuPage ranks 20th and is the only Illinois county represented on the list. First was Marin County, Calif., followed by San Francisco, Calif; Chittendon, Vt.; Norfolk, Mass. and Ozaukee, Wisc. counties.
The study looked at various aspects of health care and health statistics, including birthweight, infant mortality, teen birth rate, access to primary care physicians, parks and child poverty.
