WOOD DALE – A small dog was badly injured when it was attacked at a Wood Dale dog park this month, police said.
According to police reports, a 73-year-old Wood Dale resident brought her small white-and-black Terrier mix to the dog park at 111 S. Wood Dale Road on June 3 when a German Shepherd bit her dog near its right ear.
The woman reportedly asked the Shepherd's owner if she could let her dog in the same pen. When he didn't answer, she proceeded to bring her dog into the pen where two Shepherds were running around, police said.
The Terrier mix was taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment, and he reportedly received stitches, the woman's daughter said. According to police reports, the Shepherd's owner offered to pay all veterinary bills, and both dogs involved had valid rabies vaccination tags.
No criminal charges will be filed, police said.
