Blackhawks anthem singer Jim Cornelison highlights Bolingbrook's Fourth of July celebration

BOLINGBROOK – The village’s communitywide Fourth of July celebration returns to the Bolingbrook Golf Club for an 11th-consecutive year Thursday.

More than 12,000 people are expected to grace the greens and fairways for the 2013 All American Celebration, enjoying more than seven hours of barbecue, live music, games and activities, carnival rides, face painting and an evening fireworks display. Additionally, Chicago Blackhawks national anthem singer Jim Cornelison will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

Sponsored by the village of Bolingbrook and hosted by the Bolingbrook Golf Club, the village’s All American Celebration is free for everyone and will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday. Beforehand, residents can catch free shuttle buses from the Carlow Corporate Center, near the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Dalton Lane, and in the grass lot near the intersection of Kings Road and Rodeo Drive.

A Fourth of July staple for a decade and counting, the All American Celebration has grown in size nearly every year, said Bolingbrook Golf Club General Manager Randy Farber, who said the daylong spectacle offers something for everyone.

“This is our way to give back to Bolingbrook,” Farber said. “Our vision is for the golf club to be a community facility, so it is important to offer amenities for children and adults alike.

Farber said this year’s All American Celebration will feature more children’s game activities – more than 10 carnival rides, bouncy houses, inflatable slides, obstacle courses and a face-painting and henna tattoo tent.

Adults can cool down at the Budweiser Beer Garden and Avion Tequila Outdoor Tavern, or watch one of four concerts at the Budweiser Concert Pavilion.

Patrons are allowed to bring their own food, drinks and coolers, but residents also can buy something from the 15 local restaurant tents in the food pavilion. Additionally, residents can buy tickets for an evening barbecue buffet.

The night cap includes a 45-minute firework display and a “Star-Spangled Banner” performance by Blackhawks national anthem singer Jim Cornelison, who returns to Bolingbrook for the third-straight year.

“Our fireworks are some of the best in the state,” Farber said. “And we are so thrilled to have Jim Cornelison again sing the national anthem. You can bet that the entire crowd will give a standing ovation during his performance.”
