GLEN ELLYN – The Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) has received a $500 grant from the Glen Ellyn Rotary Club for inclusion services at the Glen Ellyn Park District.

The funds will be used to provide support services for children with disabilities to attend park district programs with peers who do and do not have disabilities.

Customized inclusion services may include a one-to-one aide, program or behavior modifications, physical adaptations, customized park district training or other supports needed to ensure success for everyone.

Inclusion provides benefits for those both with and without disabilities. Individuals with disabilities who are part of inclusion programs show improvement cognitively and socially and feel more connected to their community.

Participants without disabilities learn to appreciate differences and become more comfortable connecting to people with various disabilities.

The Rotary Club presented the check to Elden Brauer, WDSRA Foundation Board chairman, during its meeting May 23 at Glen Oaks Country Club.
