DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove Police will increase its DUI and seatbelt enforcement from June 28 through July 7.
The intensified enforcement effort will focus on late-night hours. A disproportionate number of traffic deaths occur late at night and involve a drunk driver and unbuckled motorist, according to police.
The extra patrols are funded by a state grant.
To avoid a potential crash or drunk driving arrest, the Downers Grove Police Department recommended designating a sober driver and not letting friends or family members drive drunk.
