Berwyn's Dollars For Scholars deadline draws near

BERWYN – The city of Berwyn is offering Dollars for Scholars educational scholarships in the amount of $1,200 to two deserving students who will be entering an accredited college, university, vocational of technical school as a full-time student in the Fall of 2013.

Candidates are evaluated on scholastic achievement, community involvement, financial need, teacher appraisal and their commitment to education.

Applications for the Dollars For Scholars program are available at the Berwyn City Clerk’s office, 6700 W. 26th St., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., or by visiting www.Berwyn-IL.Gov.

The deadline to turn in applications is Monday June 24. The awarding of the scholarships will take place in July or early August. The official date has yet to be announced.

The Scholarship Board urges all eligible candidates to apply as soon as possible. Judging is based on a point system so that each candidate is considered fairly.
