LA GRANGE – Applications are available for La Grange Police's third Citizen's Police Academy.

The academy is free and meets Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for 12 weeks starting in early September. Participants meet at the police station and get a first-hand look at police operations, including a curriculum that includes the history of La Grange Police, crime scene processing, defense tactics and juvenile law. The goal of the academy is to strengthen the partnership between police and residents.

Participants must be 18 or older and live or work in the La Grange area. A criminal history review will be conducted prior to acceptance into the academy. Participation does not authorize attendees to carry weapons, make arrests or exercise police authority.

Applications are due by August 16 to officer Rob Wardlaw, 304 W. Burlington Ave. He can be contacted at rwardlaw@villageoflagrange.com or 708- 579-2333. Applications and a brochure describing the academy can be found on the village website.
