CAROL STREAM – A Carol Stream man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing a GPS unit so that he could locate a pizza restaurant, according to a June 12 news release from the Carol Stream Police Department.

Matthew S. Ganos, of the 500 block of Gundersen Drive, is charged with three counts of criminal trespass to motor vehicle and one count of possession of stolen property.

Carol Stream Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Gundersen Drive in response to reports of a man inside a complainant’s car. Before police arrived, Gundersen allegedly left the car and entered another car in the same area. He was apprehended inside a third vehicle.

Ganos was found in possession of a stolen Garmin portable GPS unit and power chord, police report. He could not explain how he came to possess the GPS unit, but said he was using it to locate a nearby pizza place. The owner of the GPS positively identified the unit and said that her car had been burglarized during the night.

Ganos will appear in court July 22.
