The following events and fireworks are taking place in area communities for the Fourth of July. Dates, times and locations are subject to change or cancellation.


LIBERTY FEST, kicks off with a parade at 10 a.m. July 4, leaving 12 S. Town Center St., traveling East on Green Street, South on York Road and finishing at Redmond Recreational Complex. Festivities follow at Redmond Park including food, beer, live music and kids' activities. The night wraps up with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. For more information, call 630-766-8888 or visit


THE COMMUNITY BANK OF ELMHURST 4 ON THE 4TH, 7:15 a.m. July 4. Runners make a 4-mile loop that starts and ends on Prospect Avenue near Church Street. A one-kilometer kids run begins at 8:20 a.m. on Prospect Avenue. Runners can register at


TASTE OF LOMBARD, 5 to 11 p.m. July 2, 3 and 5; noon to 11 p.m. July 4 and 6; Madison Meadow Park, Lombard. Enjoy carnival rides and games, food and music entertainment. FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION, 3 to 6 p.m. July 4 at Terrace View Park. A picnic, with food provided by Uncle Bubs, will be served. Tickets for the picnic are free for residents and $10 for non-residents. Non-residents must have their tickets purchased by a resident, and they are currently available at City Hall, 17W275 Butterfield Road. BIKE AUCTION, 8 a.m. July 4 at 28 W. Home Ave. The Villa Park Police Department will auction off bikes from its inventory. Bike viewing will begin at 8 a.m. and the bidding will begin at 8:30 a.m. Free admission. For more information, call the Villa Park Police Department at 630-834-7447.

VFW POST 2801 PARADE, noon July 4, beginning at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 S. Ardmore Ave. The parade route will process in a counter -lockwise circle along Central Boulevard, Harvard Avenue, Madison Street, Summit Avenue and Park Boulevard. The parade will end near the Gazebo along the Prairie Path at Ardmore Avenue, where there will be refreshments. Free admission. For more information, call 630-834-8191 or email
