Soon, every magazine will be advertising articles on "Best Beach Books" and "Celebrities Caught Reading!"

Vacations take you away from your routine and responsibilities, making it the perfect time to escape into a good book. But why wait until you're away from home to start having fun?

This year, the Hinsdale Public Library's summer reading programs highlight the ways that books can bring the whole world right to your front door.

"Book Your Destination" is our adult summer reading club, running through Monday, Aug. 5. Log the books you listen to or read to be entered in a weekly drawing for great travel-related prizes. Hinsdale Public Library cardholders who read eight books are eligible to win the grand prize, a $200 gift card from Fuller's Carwash, Detail & Lube Center. One lucky winner can fill up the tank or tune up the car for some serious road travel this summer!

Meanwhile, children and teens can join "Have Book, Will Travel" through Aug. 5.

Whether you are being read to, just learning or reading huge trilogies, we have a reading club fit for you. Register online or at the Youth Services desk, keep track of your reading and earn prizes. And, thanks to the Friends of the Hinsdale Public Library, this year your reading also will support the Hinsdale Humane Society, help plant a tree in Hinsdale and adopt an animal at the Brookfield Zoo.

The library supports our community’s active lifestyle with opportunities to "DO," too! Children and families can "Experience Summer" until Aug. 5. Grab a "Passport" at the Youth Services desk and complete 15 out of 20 summer experiences to be entered in our grand-prize drawing. You could win tickets for your family to Great America, membership to a Chicago Museum, art lessons and more.

And, of course, there's plenty to do at the library this summer! Adults can vicariously visit the Amalfi Coast and London in part of a series of scintillating travel lectures. Teens can take hula lessons or attend a special after hours "Ninjas vs. Zombies" party.

Battle the "I’m boooooooooooooooored" blues with the free daily programs for kids at the library. There’s something for everyone this summer – we’ve got Maths Paths one day and an International Food Fair the next!

We hope you'll make the Hinsdale Public Library one of your most visited summer destinations.
