BOLINGBROOK – A Naperville man has been charged after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing into a flower bed early Sunday morning, according to the Bolingbrook Police Department.
Jacob R. Katchen, 21, of Naperville, was charged with driving under the influence, aggravated fleeing and eluding, no insurance, possession of drug equipment and numerous traffic violations in the 1200 block of W. Boughton Road about 4:54 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
Katchen – initially flagged for an equipment violation on his 1993 grey Mercedes near the intersection of Vincent Drive and Boughton Road – allegedly fled from police at a high rate of speed, disregarding the officer's emergency lights and siren, according to Lt. Mike Rompa.
Heading east on Boughton Road, Katchen reportedly blew the red light at Weber Road, crashed into the curb and came to rest in a flower bed near 1280 W. Boughton Road, Rompa said.
Officers were able to apprehend Katchen and a 20-year-old male passenger, according to police. Officers allegedly located drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.
The passenger was released without charges.
No injuries were reported, but a light pole was damaged in the crash.
