Letter: Concerned about climate change

Published: Sunday, June 16, 2013 9:00 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

As long as humanity emits too much carbon dioxide, the climate will keep changing. We can reign in carbon emissions now, preserving our economy and way of life. Or we can wait until a less hospitable climate forces us to stop. But we can't adapt to a ever-worsening moving target. Stop we must.

Unfortunately, our representative in Congress, Peter Roskam, has called climate change "junk science." He has voted to strip the government of its ability to regulate greenhouse gases. He has signed a pledge that would prevent the government from so much as issuing a ticket to a major climate polluter. When you vote for Peter Roskam, remember that he stands foursquare against preserving your economy and your way of life.
