GLEN ELLYN – Community members are invited to sponsor a child's participation in the Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center summer program, which will begin June 18.

For $150, a child from a local low-income family will experience learning and fun on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings through July 21 at Lincoln Elementary School, 380 Greenfield Ave.

The program will focus on tutoring in literacy and some math. Participants will take field trips to the DuPage County Forest Preserve, Ranger Camp and Kline Creek Farm. Victory Sports Camp also will work with students on their soccer skills.

Founded in 2002, the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center tutors students in grades kindergarten through fifth. It served more than 80 children during the 2012-13 school year. Most of the students are from immigrant and refugee families from 14 different countries in North America, Asia and Africa.

Donations can be made by visiting www.gecrc.org or sending a check to the center's office at 346 Taft St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
