Share your community voice

Typically, this column space serves as a platform to share the thoughts of a representative from a local organization and to inform readers about the group’s latest goings-on.

But today, it is with great pleasure than I introduce myself as the incoming news editor of the Carol Stream Press.

I look forward to serving the communities of Carol Stream, Bartlett, Glendale Heights, Roselle, Bloomingdale, Streamwood, Itasca and Hanover Park.

It is my believe that journalism is a public service and that all communities deserve to be informed about local news in an accurate and expedient manner.

However, the newspaper is more than a source of information about crime, government and people of interest. It is an opportunity for organizations to spread awareness about events, recognize member achievements or share its perspective on a local issue.

If you’re involved with an area board, committee, club or other organization, we’d like to invite you to join the rotating slate of columnists in our weekly “Community Voice” feature.

Current columnists include the Carol Stream Park District, the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Carol Stream.

Most recently, Sandy Gbur, executive director of the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association, discussed how the organization recently reached its 20th anniversary and reviewed the association’s many triumphs, crediting volunteers, donors and program participants for WDSRA’s successes.

In order to be eligible as a potential columnist, your must be an organization representative. Individual community members are invited to share their perspectives on local issues by submitting a letter to the editor.

To be considered as a Community Voice columnist, email me at or call 630-427-6248.

I look forward to bringing your words to our readers.

Anna Schier is the news editor of the Carol Stream Press
