Lemont Park District construction project starts ahead of schedule

Published: Saturday, June 15, 2013 5:00 p.m. CDT

LEMONT – Construction has begun on The Lemont Park District's entranceway project at Centennial Campus.

A partial section of the outdoor walking path near 127th Street at Centennial Campus is closed. Walkers and runners are still able to use other portions of the path and visit the indoor walking track at The CORE.

The parking lot near the entrance to the northeast preschool entrance to the Centennial Community Center will not be accessible as early as the third week in June.

Once the project is well under way, Old Quarry Middle School will be utilized as the Lemont Park District’s main entrance, and additional parking will be made available at the school as well.

During the Independence Day Extravaganza event on July 3 and the Freedom Run on July 4, the entranceway to the Park District is anticipated to be open.

Updates will be posted on the District website at www.lemontparkdistrict.org, and signage will be placed throughout the campus to guide visitors and guests.
