Hello Westmont and Woodridge

Published: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 1:34 p.m. CDT

Hey everyone. My name is Kristin Pedicini and I am the new reporter for the Westmont Progress and the Woodridge Reporter. I just wanted to take a quick minute to introduce myself and why I chose a career in journalism.

To start out, I’m originally from Woodridge. I went to a private grade school in Darien, attended high school at Downers Grove South and recently graduated from Bradley University this past May.

I love sports and anything that can make me laugh. I really enjoy any outdoor activities like swimming, biking, running, even just getting lost in a book on the deck. I love to travel. I studied abroad in Spain and can’t wait to one day travel around more of Europe.

Writing has always been one of my passions, but it wasn’t until college that I decided on reporting. At Bradley University, I majored in journalism and minored in professional writing.

While taking the journalism route, I also took courses on broadcasting and was on the school’s television program, Midstate Magazine, for two years. I’ve had internships in social media and radio promotions.

I was a reporting intern at The Peoria Journal Star, where I covered mostly breaking news and human interest stories. While at the P-J Star, I learned about the position at Suburban Life Media and decided to apply.

I’m excited to be able to report on two towns that I am so familiar with, especially because I grew up in the area.

I also want to get know each of you and your stories.

Feel free to email me at kpedicini@shawmedia.com or you can reach me at 630-427-6267. I also use Twitter for most of the stories I’m reporting on, so give me a follow @K_Pedicini.
