BOLINGBROOK – Former Bolingbrook Fire Chief Dave Litton has been selected to head the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.

On Friday, the Green Bay Police and Fire Commission selected Litton to assume Green Bay fire chief duties after a nationwide search that attracted more than 30 applicants, according to the Green Bay Fire Department.

Litton was selected over four finalists, including Interim Green Bay Fire Chief Mike Nieft, Milwaukee Assistant Fire Chief Michael Romas, and Jackson, Miss. Assistant Fire Chief Sidney Johnson, the Green Bay Fire Department said.

Green Bay Metro Fire Department has 180 employees and a $20 million budget.

Litton left the Bolingbrook Fire Department May 1 after his job was cut due to fiscal constraints, combining the local fire and police departments into one public safety administration.

Litton had served as Bolingbrook fire chief since 2008.

Green Bay Fire Department officials did not specify when Litton will take over as fire chief.
