Villa Park to celebrate skate park opening

VILLA PARK – The village's newest park located next to the Iowa Community Center will be formally opened to the public during a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event June 22.

The Iowa Community Center Park, 338 N. Iowa Ave., features a skate park and bowl, playground equipment, bocce ball and baggo courts, a children's garden and more.

The grand opening celebration begins at 10:30 a.m. with a skateboarding demonstration given by friends of the local business Motiv8 Skate Shop and a demonstration by Edd Magierski, a local resident and bocce ball enthusiast.

At 11:30 a.m., the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held and at noon, village employees will serve hot dogs and popcorn.
