LEMONT – The second story of a Lemont home was engulfed in flames while four residents were inside the house Wednesday evening.

The fire occurred at approximately 6 p.m. at 16453 Alba, according to Lemont Fire Protection District Chief Carl Churulo.

Although the family was home at the time of the fire, all residents were evacuated without injury.

Churulo said that the damage was severe and that the second floor was fully engulfed by the blaze. He was unable to specify the cause of the fire.

Because there are no fire hydrants in the area surrounding the home, first responders transported water tanks to the scene to combat the flames.

Approximately ten nearby districts and departments assisted Lemont in fighting the fire.
