Route 83 will be getting a $12.8 million upgrade, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn announced Thursday.

The project involves two sections of Illinois Route 83. The first 3.85-mile stretch spans from Illinois Route 19 to Illinois Route 72 through Elk Grove Village, Bensenville and Wood Dale. Arrow Road Construction Company of Mt. Prospect will resurface the road and make other improvements for nearly $7 million, the lowest of three bids, according to a news release from the governor's office.

The second section, from Illinois Route 64 to Route 19, spans 3.44 miles through Elmhurst, Addison, Wood Dale and Bensenville. K-Five Construction Corp. of Lemont won the resurfacing bid for this section for about $5.9 million.

The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage both projects, which are part of Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program.
