Fourth of July approaches, here is what to do

The Fourth of July brings together people from coast to coast to celebrate the country’s independence and enjoy summer. Check out the local events taking place during theFourth of July weekend.

LA GRANGE

St. Cletus Parish hosts City Lights Orchestra, 7 p.m. July 3, St. Cletus Parish, 600 W. 55th St., for a “Ravinia-style” performance. Bring a lawn chair, blanket and dinner or snacks to have during the concert. Music will conclude at dusk (about 8:30 p.m.), and local fireworks will be visible from the parish’s lawn.

Fireworks viewing from Waiola Park, dusk (about 8:30 p.m.) July 3, 47th Street and Waiola Avenue. WLTL-FM 88.1 will simulcast music to the fireworks.

COUNTRYSIDE, HODGKINS, INDIAN HEAD PARK, WILLOW SPRINGS

Pleasant Dale Park District Independent Day Celebration, 5:30 p.m., Walker Park, 7425 S. Wolf Road in Burr Ridge. Hot dogs, snow cones and food will be available to buy. Fireworks start about 9:30 p.m. Information can be found by calling 630-662-6220, or at www.pleasantdaleparks.org. 

WESTCHESTER

Westchester July Fourth Parade, 9:30 a.m., starts at Mayfair and Dorchester avenues and concludes at Community Park, where hot dogs and drinks will be available for free for parade participants. Information can be found at 708-345-0020, or at www.westchester-il.org.
