DARIEN - The end of the spring sports season was only the beginning of the action at Hinsdale South.

By the end of the first week of June, a slew of new coaching hires made by Hinsdale South athletic director Kim Maloney were made official by the school board.

Of the five new coaches, two of the biggest will debut in the winter sports season.

Steve Holland, the former Wheaton North wrestling coach, will replaced retired Mike Matozzi in that role, and Brett Moore will take over the boys basketball team from Tanner Mitchell.

Moore spent the last four season as the head coach at Plano High School after stints as an assistant at Somonauk and Hinckley-Big Rock.

Holland is a 1985 Wheaton North graduates and one of the top athletes in school history. He spent 20 years on staff at North and was the head wrestling coach the past 13 years.

In addition to Moore and Holland, Haley Nelson was named girls water polo coach and Beth Walker girls swimming coach. Both replace the retired Frank Kuchta. Joshua Zolecki will take over for Billson Rasavongxay as the head boys volleyball coach in the spring.
