Glen Ellyn residents recognized for historic preservation efforts

GLEN ELLYN – Two Glen Ellyn families received historic preservation awards for their efforts to renovate their properties in a way that reflected their homes' historic characters, with one more family to receive an award later this month.

The Glen Ellyn Historic Preservation Commission recognizes homeowners, architects and builders for their historic preservation efforts every year. The renovation projects recognized at the June 10 Glen Ellyn Village Board meeting were completed last year.

The Puccini family, of the 400 block of Anthony Street, received the Streetscape Compatibility Award, while the Bode family, of the 500 block of Hillside Avenue, were given the Architectural Details Award. The commission will present an award to the Garippo family, of the 400 block of Taylor Avenue, at the June 24 village board meeting.

Residents are welcome to nominate their homes or other properties that have undergone renovations with a focus on historic preservation. For more information, visit www.glenellyn.org or contact Kristen Schrader, Historic Preservation Commission staff liaison, at 630-469-5000.
