Western DuPage Special Recreation Association Foundation gets grant

CAROL STREAM – The Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) Foundation has received a Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society grant in support of its inclusion services.

The grant will be used to support inclusion services for children with disabilities attending Glen Ellyn Park District programming among peers with and without disabilities. These services are customized to meet the needs of the child with the disability, which may include a one-to-one aide, program or behavior modifications, physical adaptations, customized park district training or other necessary support to make sure everyone can be involved.

WDSRA serves more than 4,500 children and adults with special needs through more than 1,500 programs, trips and special events each year. WDSRA also gets more than 15,000 participants through programs, inclusion services, community education and fundraising events. The organization offers Special Olympics and adapted sports games, dance and art programs and social clubs and camps.

WDSRA is a nationally acclaimed organization and a cooperative extension of nine park districts including Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton and Winfield.
