ELMHURST – Residents and teams representing Elmhurst gathered to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society last week, but they are still accepting donations.

The Elmhurst Relay For Life raised more than $145,000 as of Tuesday morning. More than 400 participants celebrated survivors and remembered those who lost their battle with cancer in Berens Park last weekend with live music and a luminaria ceremony.

The American Cancer Society is in the midst of its 100-year anniversary. The funds raised through Relay For Life contribute to cancer research and cancer patients.

Donations can be made at RelayForLife.org/ElmhurstIL through Aug. 30.
