DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove police are investigating a report of a man offering a teenage girl a ride in his van on Saturday.

The 16-year-old girl told police she was walking at 5 p.m. near 72nd Street and Fairmount Avenue when a man allegedly approached driving a teal-colored van. The man allegedly drove slowly alongside the girl, and asked if she wanted a ride, she told police.

Police are attempting to locate the driver, who is described as a male of Middle Eastern descent, 30 to 35 years of age. He had short dark brown hair, and a full beard with no mustache, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to contact the Downers Grove Police Department at 630-434-5600 or 911.

Police reminded residents to tell children to be aware of strangers and report any concerns immediately to police.
