RIVERSIDE – Riverside police officials joined with mem-bers of the West Suburban Enhanced Drug and Gang Enforcement Task Force to close a reported drug operation last week.
Agents from the Riverside Police Department and WEDGE executed a search warrant Friday on the home of Victor M. Sanchez, 18, of the 7200 block of West Ogden Avenue in Riverside. Sanchez was accused of selling marijuana from his residence, police said.
Police said they recovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia and tools for processing, preparing and cutting marijuana for resale. He was charged with felony manufacture and delivery of marijuana, felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Sanchez’s arrest stemmed from an investigation conducted by WEDGE that began in March, police said. Area residents helped police in this case by reporting suspicious vehicles and people loitering in the area of the Ogden Avenue address over the past several months, police said.
“This is a significant arrest as Mr. Sanchez was selling cannabis to juveniles and adults that drove to the Riverside address from Berwyn, Chicago, Lyons, Summit, Justice and several DuPage County communities,” Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel said.
Weitzel added that he “observed a taxi cab drive onto the property at [the Ogden Avenue residence] and the passenger go into the garage and purchase cannabis and get back in the taxi and exit.”
WEDGE covers Berwyn, Brookfield, Cicero, Elmwood Park, Forest Park, North Riverside, Oak Park, River Forest, River Grove, Riverside and Stickney.
