GLEN ELLYN – An international art exhibit is coming to St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Glen Ellyn this summer.

"Icons in Transformation," which will feature 150 pieces by abstract expressionist Ludmila Pawlowska, will run from June 22 until July 31.

The works in the exhibit include 12 large sculptural pieces, some of which will be suspended in the sanctuary at St. Mark's, 393 N. Main St. Other pieces will be displayed in the parish hall.

Pawlowska was born in Kazakhstan and moved to Sweden after the fall of the Soviet Union. She now operates a Scandinavian art center with her husband and other artists.

Her technique includes painting, installation and sculpture using collage on wood panel. Paintings included in the exhibit were created by Pawlowska during the course of 10 years.

"Icons in Transformation" has toured cathedrals and churches throughout Europe and the United States.

The public is invited to view the exhibit, which will be open daily. Most of the pieces are available for purchase.
