District 86 to hold public hearing on driver's education fee

HINSDALE – The District 86 Board of Education will hold a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. June 17 to hear comments on the proposed modification of the school code to charge $350 for Driver’s Education.

The district has had an identical waiver on file with the General Assembly for the past five years, but it is set to expire in the fall of 2014.

According to school code, if a school district wants to charge more than $250 for the class, it must file a waiver with the General Assembly. This additional charge allows the district to recoup some of the cost of the program.
