Tamale Hut Café in North Riverside to host paranormal expert
NORTH RIVERSIDE – Food items aren't the only offerings on the menu at Tamale Hut Café.
The North Riverside restaurant provides space on its wall for artists to display their creations and space inside its lobby for writers to discuss their work. Jaime Flores, owner of Tamale Hut Café, said he offers the use of his establishment free of charge for these purposes due to his interest in advancing cultural opportunities in the western suburbs.
"The authors who come in and discuss their work and sell their books, I don't make any money off that. It all goes back to the authors," Flores said. "And the artists who display their work in our restaurant, I don't charge them any rent to use the wall. The idea is to allow them to promote their work to the community."
